SUBJECT: NEW_SUB_PROTOCOLSigID [ENCRYPTED], your coordinates have been validated. Vanguard Command acknowledges your role in locating ENC-4 crystal deposit. Operatives were dispatched to secure the objective. Stay clear of vicinity until further notice. You are granted clearance level NR-1. Access link is provided for classified intel.< Data Classification: Restricted - Do NOT Share >

DATE: 1986-07-24
SUBJECT: ENC-4 Crystal
APPEARANCE: Purple, smooth crystalline. Cold to the touch. Slightly luminescent.
CONTAINMENT: Some specimens might be radioactive. Lead containers recommended.
RESEARCH: Distortion-proof armor.Class E Dimensional artifact. Uncommon, but not rare. Unlike most artifacts, they usually appear in clusters after Whitefall subsides. Locations seem to be random, but often near large bodies of water. Often exhibit restorative properties. May be used to reduce entropic effects of Distortions.

SUBJECT: Irregular Geological Formations
CATEGORY: Image Analysis
ANALYSIS NOTES: Subject appears to be elongated, strips of rock protruding from the soil. The absence of visible weathering suggests these formations were recently exposed. Faint, bone-like patterns are observed on the rock surfaces, resembling fossilized structures. The origin of these formations remain unidentified, pending further analysis.

ORIGIN: Vanguard
CATEGORY: Artifact Detector
POWER SOURCE: Batteries
OP_RANGE: 500MThe K-9 Detector was developed by the Vanguards to search for artifacts. It requires a sample artifact as a signal source in order to detect the presence of similar signals within a 500-meter radius. Due to its similarity to search dogs, it is nicked-named “K-9”.STRENGTHS: Light-weight, small, simple operation.
WEAKNESSES: Low accuracy and susceptible to interference. Requires sample artifact as source.

SUBJECT: Mutant Sighting “Gray Marshman”
APPEARANCE: Humanoid, unarmored, unarmed. Photography unavailable. Hand-drawn portrait based on verbal descriptions available on file.
SOURCE: Field Report B3D37Subject is described as an “old man with messy gray hair”, half-submerged in a swamp. Physical capabilities unknown. Defense method unknown. Hyper-sensitive to human attention, even from behind. Subject exhibits mild psychological disruptions to victims on eye-contact, with symptoms including: dizziness, impaired vision, impaired body mechanics, possible impaired judgement and perception of time. Immediate neutralization recommended.STRATEGY: Approach from behind. Do NOT aim. Use explosive ordnance.

SUBJECT: Strange Speech Extracted from Radio Transmission
SOURCE: Radio Transmission B3D15, Hiroshi Nakagawa, 1987-10-13
TECHNICIAN: [ENCRYPTED]COMMENTS:
Audio was extracted from the background noise of the incoming radio message. Content resembles a male voice, highly distorted and incomprehensible. Followed steps below to decode the message:1. Increased volume by 10dB.
2. Reduced background pink noise.
3. Sped up playback by 1.8x
4. Increased pitch by 1.2x
5. Reversed playbackThe final audio clip contained comprehensible speech in Russian. Translation:SigID B3D15 calling headquarters. This is attempt three. No response on previous attempts. Location: unknown. Current time: seventeen-fifteen. Current status: no contact from other members of Expedition B-3. Still searching for outlets. ETA: two hours, maybe longer. Nakagawa out.The audio was suspected to be one of Nagakawa’s radio transmissions to headquarters, but was somehow “captured” by the surrounding artifacts and then echoed back in reverse. However, after examining all recorded transmissions from Nagakawa, no exact match was found except one with slightly different content:Current time: sixteen-fifteen… ETA: three hoursWhy did the echo alter the original speech? It seems as if it was received one hour after being spoken, therefore the ETA was reduced by one hour intentionally to reflect the delay? Was there a sentient being behind this???

SUBJECT: Recovered K-9 Detector, Rifle Fused to Rock
CATEGORY: Object Analysis
ANALYSIS NOTES:Subject A (K-9 Detector):
It was reported during Dispatch Log [DL-1013] that Expedition B-3 was led astray by their K-9 Detector, which was suspected to have been tampered with. The same detector was recovered by Expedition B-5. Physical analysis of the device showed no signs of forced dissembly or abnormal configuration. Lab scenario testing also proved proper functionality. The prior incident was likely caused by environmental interference or simply reader error.Subject B (Rifle Fused to Rock):
Separation of rifle and rock required 315N of force. The rifle left a vivid imprint on the rock, even the serial number was clearly visible. Chemical testing of the rock revealed metamorphism which usually occurs under intense heat around 400°C. However, the wooden furniture on the rifle showed no signs of burning or charring. Thus, the cause of metamorphism remains unknown.

Subject: Anton Belov, SIGID B3D37
Conductor: [ENCRYPTED]Conductor: Alright, now open your eyes. Do you see anything?
Belov: No, nothing. It’s just darkness.Conductor: You should turn on your flashlight. Can you see now?
Belov: Uh, yes, it’s a tunnel. I’m in a tunnel. No… It’s a tube.Conductor: A tube? What does it look like?
Belov: the walls are rounded. Bumpy, jagged, but also looks smooth.Conductor: Touch the wall. How does it feel?
Belov: It’s… It’s warm, soft, like rubbery, but also spongey…Conductor: Is there anything inside this tunnel… or tube?
Belov: Nothing. It’s just me. But I feel like I’m inside some kind of liquid. A very light, thin liquid, thinner than water, but thicker than air. I feel a “thick wind” blowing at my face.Conductor: Are you able to walk? Try moving around.
Belov: Yes, I can. I can run too. I’m going to run… It feels good. Not tired at all. I keep running. But now I must stop, there’s a fork ahead.Conductor: Which path are you going to take?
Belov: There are two paths. I don’t know. I feel two streams of wind, one from each tunnel path.Conductor: Do they feel different?
Belov: Yes. One stream reminds me of the “thick wind” I first felt. The other feels… Colder. I guess I’ll follow the more familiar one.Conductor: No. Take the other path. You are the adventurous type.
Belov: OK, alright then. It’s getting colder, and wet. Feels like the basement level of my old apartment. Can I turn around? I don’t like this.Conductor: No. I need you to keep going. It leads to safety.
Belov: OK… Oh, I see some light up ahead.Conductor: Yes, keep going, that’s probably the way out. Tell me what you see when you get to the light.
Belov: It’s getting brighter as I run. I can’t believe it, it must be day time out there! Oh… No! No!Conductor: What’s going on?
Belov: What’s happening to me? This can’t be… I’m seeing through… through my own eyes…Conductor: What? Of course you see through your own eyes. They are your eyes. What do you see, then?
Belov: The lamp… The bright lamp. Electrical equipment, transformers, the chair, the radio transmitter! It’s what I last saw before waking up in the tunnel!Conductor: So… You got teleported back to where you were?
Belov: No! I’m still here! The bumpy, jagged walls, the cold wind, I’m still in the tunnel! But… I’m looking through my own eyes! I’m… I'm inside myself! Noooooooooooo! Let me out! Let me out! Ahhhh!Conductor: Halt the procedure now! Cut the IV flow, switch to heavy sedative! Pavel, Mikhail, hold his legs!< End of File >
